Vintage Working GEC Electric Butler Alarm Internal Door Bell

Never miss another ring on the door of your home, shop, or business with this wonderful, bakelite and metal, Vintage Working GEC Electric Butler Alarm Internal Door Bell. The gong diameter is approx. 6.8 cm.

A great piece of vintage history, (dates to about the 1930s), in used condition, with scratches and scuffs commensurate with age and use. The bell is slightly rusty and corroded in parts. I haven't tried to polish it as some people prefer to see the original patina.

The switch is probably not up to current IEE regulations and would need an update by a qualified electrician.

This type of bell was often used as a door opening alarm for shops/post offices as well as to augment the sound of the external door bell in homes and railway signal boxes.
